Ford has announced that the S-Max and Galaxy MPVs have received a new range of frugal diesel engines and technology upgrades to make them easier to drive.
Both now can be fitted with the 2.0-litre EcoBlue unit that comes in four states of tune and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission – with Ford set to add a 1.5-litre 163bhp EcoBoost petrol option before the end of 2018.
The diesel unit comes in 118bhp, 148bhp, 188bhp and twin-turbocharged 237bhp guises, with all providing lower emissions than engines offered before and better fuel economy. All of the engines on offer comply with the new WLTP emissions standards.
Ford has engineered the eight-speed automatic transmission to “optimise fuel efficiency” and offer improved gear changes over the last automatic gearbox fitted to both models.
A six-speed manual transmission is also available, with all-wheel drive on offer for both models as well.See Available Ford S-Max deals
Ford has also fitted it with adaptive cruise control teamed with Stop & Go to help reduce fatigue on longer drives, and blind spot technology that now detects vehicles up to 18 metres behind you.
A 10-inch digital instrument screen can also be added, with the display customisable so you can choose which details are more important to you. It comes with analogue-style speedometer and rev-counter dials.
